The prospect of islet implantation treatment

ITN competent Dr.Jeffrey Bluestone said, “ITN clinical trials show that the diabetes study has been upgraded to a new level, we hope that the technology will eventually apply to all patients with diabetes.”
Known as the “Edmonton program,” the experimental technology, by the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada (University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada), Dr. James Shapiro and his colleagues invented. According to them published in the New England Journal of Medicine (The New England Journal of Medicine), the article said, the researchers had successfully isolated and islet transplantation to seven diabetic patients to correct their dependence on insulin.
National Allergy and Infectious Diseases Research Institute (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) Director Dr. Anthony S. Fauci said, “can be regarded as the future of this pilot study new ITN tolerance for the foundation, the treatment can remove transplantation receptor lifelong taking immunosuppressive drugs to maintain the suffering of islet function. ”
Youth Diabetes Foundation (Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, JDF) spoke highly of this initiative, the organization and the State Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Disease Institute (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases) ITN conducted jointly funded the study. JDF International President Mary Tyler Moore said, “For patients with diabetes, this is how an important moment.”
